“A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone’s knowledge of himself and the world around him.”

~ Dylan Thomas

I’m not brilliant at describing myself, but I’m an incoming college freshman (Professional Writing/Classics major) with a passion for writing and words in general. I’m an aspiring poet and journalist/editor, and writing pieces that people can truly relate to is what inspires me the most.

I’ve battled with depression and anxiety for the past two years, and only recently discovered that this was primarily due to my undiagnosed ADHD, inattentive type. After basically destroying everything in my life (besides my 4.0) during senior year, I’m sort of remaking myself, and my blog.

I was born in South Africa (yes there are white people in Africa), but I’ve lived in the States since I was 5.

If you hadn’t noticed, I reeeally like the colour purple. And piano, and nail polish, and Netflix, and yearbook, and eyeliner, and the library, and Latin, and mountains, and the forest, and Idaho, and traveling, and driving, and music, and Formula 1, and soccer, and quotes, and coffee, and my brothers.

I’m 18 – I’ve got to stop posting things like that. My interests include piano, yearbook, eyeliner, libraries, Latin, wilderness, traveling, driving, music, Formula 1, soccer, quotes, coffee, yoga, and my younger brothers. Oh, and forgetting to sleep because I’m wrapped up in a book and don’t notice that the sun is peeking over the horizon.

I love to write, so I do. I’m learning to follow my natural impulses when they aren’t harmful, because 18 years of suppressing everything gets to a person.

“Writing is the only thing that when I do it, I don’t feel like I should be doing something else.”

~ Gloria Steinem

  1. You have a really pretty blog site dear! I love your URL, soccer? Football right? I am curious to know which team fa are you… I look forward to reading more of your posts. Lovely site, i just realized purple color offers a sense of calmness to the eyes. Cheers buddy!

  2. I am going to like it here. I just hope I won’t bore you. Our age difference are huge. I am 56. It is exciting to be reading through the eyes of someone your age.
I lived for writing, books everything back then. I wasn’t into sports as far as playing them. Not any good at them for one. Yet, I love football, baseball, basketball, a little soccer etc. Favorite right now is NASCAR…..Mainly because hubby likes it.
    I remember walking around with my book bag…..filled with notebooks…at least 3 and BOOKS. I didn’t have INTERNET…….then .
Back soon. Tell me if I start to bore you. I am a former teacher and I miss it.
I had one child …now in Heaven. I miss his cousins who live far away. That maybe why I am enjoying your blog.

    1. I’m glad to hear that you like it 🙂 And I am absolutely certain you shan’t bore me. As you like to see things from a younger perspective, I enjoy hearing from those with some experience… and I must say I’ve never been brilliant at soccer, but I love it. I didn’t play this past year though, for countless reasons. I don’t understand baseball, have a very loose grasp of football, and somewhat enjoy basketball… and even with the internet I do have, I still carry around an unreasonable number of notebooks and books! Even when I don’t end up using them, they’re comforting to me

I wanted to be a teacher when I was younger, but discovered I didn’t have the patience. So I admire you for your profession and thank you for the knowledge you’ve helped bring to others 🙂

I’m sorry to hear about your child, but glad that you know he is in a better place. Peruse and comment all you like. I haven’t had a chance to check out yours yet because I have to go to work – I’m going to do my makeup as soon as I finish typing this – but I hope I have time when I get back tonight. Have a lovely day xx
